Hiking at the platanus forest of Kireas

An ideal choice for nature lovers is hiking at the unique forest of age long platanus trees, which is created along the river Kireas, on northern Euboea, near the village of Prokopi.

Among the very tall trees, along the length of the forest there are small bridges, six small chapels and two old watermills, but also several clearings that are provided for resting and picnic. At the location Paraskevorama, it is worth noting the large platanus tree, with an age over 2.000 years, one of the oldest in Europe, which is related to a lot of local legends and narrations.
