Kefalovryso

At a small distance from Karpenisi is Kefalovryso, a place with natural beauty and great history. Here was the location of one of the most important battles of the Greek Revolution, on the 8th of August 1823, when Markos Botsaris with 450 fighters from Souli attacked the Turkish forefront and killed a lot of them. In this battle Botsaris  himself died, and as a matter of fact there is a monument dedicated to him here.

Nowadays the area is beautiful, with platanus trees and running waters, modern athletic facilities, picturesque small taverns, even a trout fish farm, and is available for entertainment and rest.
