Visiting the Vlachochoria

Perivoli, Smixi, Abdella, Krania and Samarina are the famous villages of the Vlachs at the area of Grevena. They are built on the enchanting slopes of Pindos, surrounded by rivers and dense forests, at an area which is unique because of its beautiful landscapes. They are all situated at a high altitude, which reaches the 1,500 m. in Samarina, the village of Greece with the highest altitude. Wandering around the Vlachochoria one can learn about their architectural tradition, to admire unique stone bridges, to visit monasteries and churches, to rest in squares with age long platanus trees and try the local dishes.
