Valia Kalda, which means “warm valley” in the dialect of the Vlachs, is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Greece and one of the most important reserves of wild animals, mainly of the brown bear. It belongs to the National Park of Pindos and is situated on the northern side of the mountain range. The dense forest by European black pines and Bosnian pines, with enchanting paths and plenty of running waters, offers unforgettable hiking routes, climbing to Flega lakes and wandering at Arkoudorema, the tributary od Aoos, which constitutes the valley’s exit to the west. The most convenient entrance into the national park is from the area of Grevena, starting from the village Spileo.
