Flavors of Karditsa

The gastronomic heritage of Karditsa is closely related to agricultural production. Characteristic products of the area are the sausages, tripouro, legumes, wine, the famous feta of Agrafa.

Due to stockbreeding the meat is very popular, trachanas is frequent on the table, mainly in the winter, while the pies are for every season. Most famous is “plastos” and another pie that is called “blatsaria”. It is made, like the “bazinba”, with corn flour, herbs and cheese. The most sophisticated flavor of the area comes from the cuisine of the Vlachs and is duck kavourmas.
