Bean and roach feast

The two most important local products of the area of the Prespa lakes are the beans and the roaches. The beans are considered the best in Greece, while the lesser known roaches, the small fishes that live in the lakes of Macedonia, are fished in the lakes in large quantities. In the past they packaged them into cans here and exported them, while until the present day, one of the most characteristic images from the Prespa lakes area is bunches of roaches drying up in the sun.
Every September, in Laimos, they organize a festival dedicated to these two products, where visitors have the opportunity to taste excellent dishes, cooked according to traditional recipes.
