On the northeastern edge of Greece, the city of Alexandroupoli, capital of the Prefecture of Evros, combines the distant past with the beauty of today. At this crossroads of people and cultures and looking straight into the sea it has rich history that is testified by the numerous monuments. Among them the church of Panagia Kosmosotira in the town of Feres, which is considered –not unjustly– one of the most important Byzantine monuments of Greece and has been established as the World Pilgrimage of Thracians all over the world.
