The Visitor Centre of the Evros Delta lies 14 km east of the city of Alexandroupoli. This is an extremely interesting environmental centre, which aims at promoting and informing about one of the most important wetlands in Greece, but also on the Balkans.
The Centre apart from its environmental education and hospitality that it provides to its visitors, it also organizes excursions with a boat to the river's delta, with specialized guides. There visitors can admire the wealth of flora and avifauna, with the means provided (binoculars and telescopes). It is worth mentioning that approximately 319 species of birds from a total of 425 species that have been recorded in Greece live in this wetland. This diverse and unique natural and animal mosaic of the Evros Delta, in an area of 200 km2, it is certain that all those who are funs of ecotourism will be thrilled.
