Aiani

Approximately 20 kilometers south of Kozani is Aiani, one of the most important ancient cities of western Macedonia, the capital of the powerful Macedonian kingdom of Elimiotis. It was inhabited from prehistory and flourished a lot in the Archaic and Classical Period, from the 6th to the 4th century BC. At the archaeological site one can see ruins of houses, public buildings, as well as the impressive cemetery of the city, while the mobile findings that record the whole history and the importance of the land, from the Bronze Age to the Roman Period, are exhibited at the modern Archaeological Museum of Aiani.
