Museum of National History of Milia, Grevena

At the modern paleontological museum of Milia are exhibited the fossils and other important findings of the excavations that have been carried out in the wider area by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Many thousands years ago, a jungle was here where giant elephants, rhinoceros, tapirs, gazelles, horses and other wild animals. At the museum’s exhibition the visitor can learn about the environment and see the fossilized bones. Among the exhibits stand out the largest known tusks in the world, which have been recorded in the Guinness book of records, and belonged to an animal that lived 2.5-3 million years ago.
