Prespes is a unique area that combines rare natural beauty, picturesque settlements and monuments that testify to the history of the place from the 11th to the 19th century. Among the Byzantine and post-Byzantine monuments are the church of Agios Achilios, at the island of the same name at the Small Prespa Lake, and the hermitages with their unique rock engravings, on the shores of the Great Prespa Lake.
