It is one of the most well preserved towns of the area, since it preserves to a large extent the style of the old architecture of Mani. It is the capital of the Middle Mani and especially in the summer months attracts a great number of tourists. At the city the visitor can admire the towers of large and historical families of the area of Mani, such as Mavromichalis, Pikoulakis and Barelakos.
The centre of the city was wholly built with stones, with alleys and maintains its traditional style. Here one can entertain at the atmospheric bars and cafes, or enjoy the local dishes at the many restaurants and taverns of the city.
