In 1830 after a donation by the Swiss banker and philhellene J. G. Eynard they built the Eynard School next to the Metropolis.
The building housed the first Central School, that is the school that prepared the teachers (similar to Pedagogic Academy), the experimental mutual teaching school, while for a while it also housed the Greek Parliament. The architectural importance of Eynard School is the fact that us the first clearly Neoclassical building, which was constructed in the modern Greek state.
