Livadi, in the Munucipality of Elsassona, is located at an altitude of 1,200 meters and is the birthplace of the fighter and member of the Filiki Eteria, Giorgakis Olympios, and in his memory they erected the Museum of Giorgakis Olympios, at a part of the initial residence which was constructed according to the standards of the Livadi architecture. He sacrificed his life in 1821, together with other Greeks at the bell tower of Secu Monastery. At the picturesque Livadi with the alleys made of stones and the numerous monuments survives one of the most well-known Clandestine Schools (active during the Ottoman occupation), at the Monastery of Agia Triada. Other attractions are Sapka, the wild virgin oak forest, the folklore customs that revive through many happenings (mule-races, Doufes, Babaliouria and others) and the events of the “Cultural August” which are accompanied by traditional dishes and the well-known tsipouro of the area.
