Tripolis Perrhaebia

Northwest of Thessaly, at the foothills of West Olympus, where today is Elassona, is the location of the ancient Perrhaebia.

Tripolis of Perrhaebia, which consisted of three cities, Azorus, Doliche and Pythion, was particularly important since it was a passage from Thessaly to Macedonia. Its heyday was mainly between the 5th and the 3rd century BC and reached to the Christian times, as testified by the Early Christian churches that survive in the area.

Important findings that narrate the history of the period we can admire at the Archaeological Museum of Larissa.

The archaeological site can be visited after an arrangement with the Ephorate.
