The Museum of Wax Figures of Folklore and Prehistory of Mavrochori

The museum is at Mavrochori and is housed into two buildings with intense elements of local architecture.

It is a relevantly new museum, which aims at the experiential demonstration of the elements of history and folklore of the area of Kastoria, through wax figures.

Of particular interest is the faithful representation of a whole village, in natural size, of Greece before WWII, with stores that provided services that are now long forgotten. Tinkers, blacksmiths, manufacturers of carts and other figures in their work clothes parade in front of the visitors, evoking memories from the narrations of people from previous generations.
