At the National Gallery’s department in Nafplio the visitor will have the opportunity to admire one of the most perfect and most complete museums of Greece. It is an impressive old mansion that was built in the beginning of the 20th century, and was converted into a Gallery in 2004, with the sponsorship of the public benefit Foundation “Aristotle Onassis”.
Its exceptional paintings are exhibited divided into five units, which have to do mainly with themes and figures from the Revolution of 1821. Dominating are the works of Gyzis, Lytras, Vryzakis, but also other well-known artists of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. At the showcases of the Gallery there are also sculptures, everyday objects, as well as the weapons of important figures of the Greek Revolution.
