The Museum of Ecclesiastical Art of Sparta is located next to the beautiful neo-classical metropolitan church of Evangelistria and the Metropolitan Mansion and possesses a rich collection of artistic creation at the area of Sparta in the Byzantine and post Byzantine period.
Its exhibits include precious relics, portable icons, silverware works, golden embroidered textiles, priest’s vestments and liturgy vessels. Particular important are the illustrated manuscript codices, that come from the important workshops of copying manuscript which operated at the Monastery of Holy Forty Martyrs and the Monastery of Zerbitsa.
