One of the most important museums of Thessaloniki, the city with the rich Byzantine heritage, is the one that is dedicated exclusively to the culture of the Byzantine years.
Its exhibits, coming from the whole of Macedonia, are presented in combination with abundant visual material, and enlighten in a different way aspects of art, everyday life, politicians and economic situation, the society of the Byzantine world.
It is housed at one of the most important and beautiful building of the city, the creation of the architect Kyriakos Krokos, a itself a monument of modern architecture, which combines modernity with elements of the Byzantine architecture tradition.
