At DIoskouroi street, at the Plaka district, near the ruins of the ancient Agora of Athens, is the small church of Agia Anna, one of the many churches one can encounter near the foothills of the Acropolis.
It was constructed during the Turkish occupation of Greece and is mentioned in descriptions of travellers of the 17th century. In its initial form is was one-aisled, vaulted, with dimensions approximately 6 x 6 metres. The church, which was in ruins, was built with the toil and expenses of Athena Polygenous, as mentioned by the inscription on its façade. It celebrates on September 9th.
