Lycabettus, the conic hill that rises at the centre of Athens, is one of the most beautiful and beloved sites of the city, with an amazing view of the whole basin. On its top is the small, white church of Agios Georgios, which dates from the 18th century, while just lower, built in the cave of the rock, is the small church of Agioi Isidoroi. On the hill there is a restaurant, a café and an outdoors theatre that hosts events, while at the slopes they have erected kiosks and formed paths that are ideal for walking. Access to the top is through a car or cable car, which starts at Ploutarchos street, at the distruct of Kolonaki.
